hi

i have a HP 8000 Elite CMT

when i ran a DXDIAG to see what display adapter it had it said

intel q45/q43 express chipset

and quoted somewhere around 1500mb

now what does this aquate too and would it be worth changing for something like

XFX HD 5450 Heatsink 1GB DDR3 VGA DVI HDMI PCI-E Low Profile Graphics Card

or is the onboard GFX chip as good/better than the above?

A 5450 sole purpose in life is to serve as a replacement for broken video out put on onboard graphics it's not suitable for games in any shape or form.

If you really want to upgrade your PC for one last hurrah I suggest you spend at least £50 and get a brand new 6670 or go second hand and buy a 5750/5770. Don't bother getting anything more powerful as I doubt your PSU will be able to cope but really after this you really ought to get a modern PC.
