hye guys ive just 'won' one of these for under 50 quid. there was 7 of them on offer after being stripped from a bulk order of PCs
will this be the same card as you buy from the shops ?
obv being OEM im not expecting any packaging or extras.
the seller provided a link for the drivers which is on the HP site... not creative ?

does anyone have any views? im not sure exactly what im gonna get.
but the picture of the card is has exactly the same architexture as the ones on the creative site. and it has the 2mb xram chips etc... but it has a heatsink on it ?
please advise :)

the pic i can send will be hosted by 'the auction site' am i allowed to post it ?

higher end x-fi cards ? i thought x-fi was the highest... except the fatal1ty one ?
ive already been suspended this week for a simple forum mishap... im gonna check the rules before i post a pic ;)

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Dolby 5.1 AC97 PCI card

This is similar to the XtremeMusic card but this card is an OEM model, Part No: SB0670
It has the X-Fi and 2MB X-RAM chips.

This card comes as seen on the photo, without cable, without manual, without driver CD.
Driver is available here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...item=pv-36750-1

It is new, never been used.
It has been removed from a PC where the customer cancelled his bulk order

all of this just dawned on me when i realised the driver page was for an HP site :|

when does it arrive? Dont think anyone has an idea really, just try it and see if it works :P

from the info seems like a lowend x-fi card to me. Seems good for the price imo.

yea it does... its only the fatality that has 64meg

if just got that horrible 'too good top be true' feeling... and ive NEVER truly understoop OEM components :|

im payin for it today so it should come within the next day or two

Hi guys,

Hate to break it to you but thats an xtreme music. I RMA'ed one and they sent back one with a heatsink on it. New design, same features, but runs hotter. Not sure about the jacks though. Mine are gold plated.

Can see mine from here and its identical apart from the jacks.

Numerous discussions on the Creative website aout it.

oh !!
insomnia ! thanks... its the heatsink that threw me off to... i hadf the feeling that they were trying to hide somehthing !
it arives on friday so ill post back with the news...
so what do you guys htink of the driver ?
think the ones off the creative site will work ? and can you get all the EAX software etc from the creative site too ? or is it JUST the driver you can download ?

thanks a lot guys
youve all been really helpful

under 50 quid, got yourself a bargain regardless which model :)

drivers are a shambles as with any Creative Drivers. You may have to use WinRAR to extract them. I think you can then download the X-Fi centre from the website. This programme I like but i hear many people do not. Lets you do everything under the sun with your headphones/speakers including EAX, CMSS3D etc.

how are the drivers a shambles ?
i mean... ive had nothing but bother with every audio driver ive had for the last 5 years lol... but are the creative obnes just as bad ?
sounds like the x-fi centre is what i was hinking of then
thanks a lot mate!

can confirm these are basically the same as X-Fi Xtreme Music cards but without gold jacks, got a pile of em in the other room. ;)
the driver from creative site installs and works fine , but the x-fi cd that you get with a retail product does not install ,the card doesnt seem to be supported which is a shame.

ignore what i said about the retail cd not working for this card , i spent last night finding the file with the device id's and ive added the ones in it from the web driver and now the retail cd installs with all the stuff :D

grab the modded file here with instructions http://homepage.ntlworld.com/chris_f/x-fi/x-fi install mod.zip
you still need to obtain the x-fi installer cd,links are on the creative forum for it.
