HP Pre 3 released

They've already updated on the hp site and next update due on 31st. Does look like cfw want to spoil the party. Might as well try to repair my 3yr old o2 cocoon :'(

HPs website says otherwise. Apparently a UK retailer has bought all the stock.

HP is out of stock and just posted an update saying that there will not be any further news before 31st of August.

Aww poo :(

Nevermind then :D I only went on what that article had on it :p

Any news on the UK retailer? I can only assume CarPhoneWarehouse?

I'll just have to try and order one online. I don't have a car so I can't really travel and the CPW in Preston is tiny so probably wont have any T_T

Just a heads-up folks, CPW's online subsidiaries (MPD etc.) are now listing the phone in-stock, but, as some have guessed, only on contract. Cheapest by a small margin seems to be e2save. I'm actually slightly tempted tbh, as I'm with giffgaff so I'm free to enter a contract. But on the downside, afterwards I'll be locked in a contract... :(

Douche move by CPW and its subs to offer the phone on contract, but I see their way of thinking. e2s offers gifts like money back or a TV with the phone!

So today around 9/10 we *might* see an update on Palm's eurostore and Ex?

No so fussed now anyway, some dude showed me a free 16GB iPhone 4 on contract for £30 a month thats got me thinking...:p *damn you*

So is it happening at 10 am tomorrow or most likely not? Wanna know whether to sleep till late or not :p

Wow, I didn't think there'd be so many people still awake and watching this thread! :)

For the record, I'm actually working, I only checked CPW's site and posted about it on here as a break...:p

So is anyone going to bother popping by a CPW and seeing if they're selling it SIM-free, and at what price? If you do, I'm sure the rest of us would appreciate an update!

i got my 5800 from a place that did "free gifts", if you can do maths, there not free :p

That is correct: the quoted price actually INCLUDES the value of the so-called "free gifts". Eg. if the advertised price is £12 per month, you have to pick the £450 rebate as your "free gift", otherwise when you get to the checkout page you'll find the real price is actually £30/month. (Or so. Didn't actually do the math, just example figures). So if you do go for those offers on e2save and other such sites, watch out.

Its worth noting the Sony Ericsson xPeria mini pro is out now... that's a better qwerty phone for ~£200 (maybe less)

You should be aiming at £25pm now for the iphone 4 (Wait until the 5 comes out though, there might be even more cashback deals)

Managed to Order one from CPW

I got an order in in the brief time where it was possible to get a sim free one from CPW. It should be delivered by this afternoon.

HOWEVER, I received a phone call last night saying that the price is unlikely to drop and if it does they will not refund the difference....

Because there is a 14 day cool off period I am taking the delivery and will see how the situation develops.

IMHO though if they do try to take them all and maintain the price, I think it is a dangerous move to make. They will earn no goodwill, have NO phone or webOS support available to them from the manufacturer (how will the deal with returns if they sell all the stock). Also at full price it would be a very hard sell to end users who by now are all very much informed about the lack of support that will be available, unless they make the deals WAY more attractive than the current ones. If its even stevens then everyone will go for an iphone or galaxy s2.

So is there anywhere these are being sold or did I miss the boat?

EDIT: Or it looks like the boat never even sailed :(

ps3ud0

Still not quite even stevens though, the cheapest deal I've found was £12/month on a data-inclusive price plan on O2 once rebates were factored in (you can get as low as £10 but that's on a non-data plan). Considering that I'm on Giffgaff atm and I normally buy their £10 goodybag anyway just for the unlimited data, I would essentially be getting a Pre 3 for an extra outlay of about £50 spread over 2 years.

The downside of course is that I'm locked in and wouldn't be able to upgrade sooner than that, and given that HP might not manage to lisence WebOS, developers will flee from it, and there are other interesting things on the horizon in the form of Meego, QNX and Ice Cream Sandwich, I'd rather not get into a 2-year contract.
