Hi.

Can anyone here remember the default subnet/IP of an unconfigured HP ProCurve switch?

For the life of me i cant access a few of our new switches, due to the fact that the rarther useless HP Manuals just say 'connect to it through its IP address' !!!

lol.

Thanks in advance all. :).

Not sure if you're having a problem with posting or what but the second link I provided is NOT for 1800s, its for the 2600s.

Good luck

Looks like confusion/tripple post there. :p

Thanks for the updated link, but the problem still remains, that just tells me whats in the manual. Which unfortunatelly doesnt tell me the default IP of the switch so i can actually access it.

I'd HT in over the com port, but its too much of a faff to get round the back of it now its already in the rack. :p.
I'd be a bit disapointed in HP if there wasnt a default IP. From experiance, switches usually ship with some random IP on a random subnet.

Tbh, i only want to configure it so i can monitor it and enable spanning tree.

The 2600's dont come with an IP assigned by default, you need to set one via the console cable. They do however have DHCP enabled by default. Thats saved us a few times by doing a factory reset with the clear/reset buttons :D

They do grab one from the DHCP server. I've just set two 2626's up this week.

Check your DHCP server to see which IP was allocated.

Or use the console and type 'show info'

Good thinking batman!
I'll just check the DHCP on our DC, see what IP it has. :D

Never thought of that. :p.
