Hi,
I've come across 4 146gb 10k sas 2.5" drives. These are the drives that fit into the HP G5 servers.
I was planning on using one on a desktop environment and the other 3 in my whitebox ESXi server.
Im not very clued up on SAS compatibilties. Would these require a dedicated SAS controller card?
My desktop has onboard sata- and the ESXi server has a PCI-X 16port SATA1 card in a PCI slot (i.e. im getting really really slow transfer rates).
Ideally if a SAS controller card is required I would require 2 of them for both machines.
Can anyone recommend a card with 1 port and another with 2 or 4 ports sas controller on a pci-e connection to work with 2.5" SAS drives?
