Behind you... Naked!
Right, I got a HP 6730. Its nice and I love it.

Some time ago, I bought a caddy that allows me to replace the DVDRW for a Second HD.

I am now running a 60GB SSD and a 500GB Normal HD and I love it to bits.

Today, I found a Pavilion DV6 i7 in a shop and thought sod it, its an I7 and I have to have it.

So I got it.

Anyway, sod this, me being me, its already been stripped and thankfully its a single 4GB Stick, so another 4GB is on its way, but my question lies here...

I am comparing the caddy and indeed both the DV6 DVD and the 6730 DVD Drives, and they look 95% identical.

Everything is exactly the same, except the actual front ( If you can call it that, but the bit that is the outsidey part of the DVD, sticks outs slightly more on the DV6 than it does on the 6730 and also the bit that sticks out the back, where you screw in the retaining screw is in a different place.

Now, I was wondering... I have a spare caddy for the 6730 and so, if I used the retaining screw mount off the DVDRW from the DV6, instead of the 6730 caddy's mount, so that the HD Caddy will fit into the DV6, will this be ok to do?

The thing is, that the socket, or port, looks like a kind of Mini Sata, so is it? Is it compatible with a HD, even though is does look like it is?

I dont want to risk wrecking the Laptop just to try adding a second HD you see.

Please try and read that pile of rubbish I am calling a post, and get back to me on it.

PLEASE.
