HRT 2011 Car Launched

My memory on specific times isn't great, but did any of the bottom 3 teams fail to "qualify" (theoretically) outside the 107% last year? Dont think they did, or if they did, it wasn't too often no?

According to Wikipedia "...five drivers would have failed to qualify due to the rule: Karun Chandhok (six times), Bruno Senna (four times), Lucas di Grassi (three times), Sakon Yamamoto (three times), and Fernando Alonso (once)."

so you would hope with a year of testing and dev they would be more on the pace this year

I don't think the 107% rule is much of a concern

Ta for that, ignoring Alonso (when was that btw? Why does Monaco ring a bell?) thats 16 occasions a car from the bottom 3 teams failed to meet the 107% rule had it been in force last year.

Assuming what, 6 drivers* in the bottom 3 teams, 114 (19x6) instances of qualification last year, thats not a bad percentage had it been applied, but odds on that it will happen at some point this year just going off that. Lets see...

*I say 6 drivers, HRT probably used that many over last season... :)

I don't recall and it doesn't say, sorry. I seem to remember he didn't make quali because of a technical issue for one of the races and had to start from the pits? But I could easily be wrong about that.

edit: found it, Alonso crashed in practice at Monaco and his car wasn't ready for quali. Well remembered :)

HRT have announced that Liuzzi will drive for them this year completing the drivers roster for 2011.

They are present at the Barcelona test this week, but are yet to turn a wheel. They plan to run on Friday and Saturday.

Least they have one diver who's driven a good few races this year, even if he was dropped for being terrible last season... (makes up for bringing back a driver that hasnt been in a car for years)

Has anyone actually seen a new car yet? you would've thought that if they've got a 2011 car actually built (designed? :p) they'd be some shiney team photo's of the new car, kinda like a launch, just without the renders :p

I'm still in the 'not really sure they'll actually be racing this year' camp...
