HSBC Direct Debits...

Just a quick question.

I have a current account with HSBC that has direct debits on it. I have recently set up an advance joint account with my partner and want to switch all my direct debits to that account. The account gives you the option to click on the switch button and swap them all over with the necessary references etc.

Is this enough or do I need to contact the companies such as Sky & O2 to let them know of the changes as well.

I have asked HSBC but they won't get back to me until tomorrow.

From my understanding of what you have said you've set up "another" account (i.e. making a new account number). Therefore I would imagine that the account numbers of your direct debit mandate would need updating.

Although if HSBC are swapping "all necessary references" then they may somehow update your direct debits for sky/O2.

When I did this with Halifax they all transferred over I think. Why not just ring HSBC tomorrow?

You can just switch them over as you suggest with online banking. My other half did the same thing just the other week
