Well, I had to go to the bank today to withdraw £2k for a flat we are buying abroad.

Firstly, I had to go today as when we went on Saturday they dont have a counter service open at the weekend! So, if you need to use any of those services, better take a day off in the week or run like mad at lunch time etc. Glad I work odd shifts.

So, when I went today I confirmed with the girl behind the counter if I can just write a cheque to myself to withdraw the money. She said yes, I wrote the cheque to myself and gave it to her. She then gave me the cash without asking for any form of ID or my switch card for my signature.

So, if any one ever steals my cheque book it wont take much for them to cash a fair bit of money very easily.

I am pretty sure that Ive not had my signature stored on their systems but I guess they can use one from previous forms Ive completed, but seriously, £2k without so much as asking for any ID is pretty bad.

At least now I can use the £20 notes as an expensive fan in this heat :p

was i think only one who thought:

"HSBC, counterstrike, sucking?"

lol :D

but yeah thats pretty bad security, i'm sure when i've done that in the past they always ask for my card, even though I know the woman behind the counter quite well.

Well they probably do suck at CS if their CS is anything to go by :p

Ironic also that my GF who works at HSBC has said they were supposed to be improving the customer service side of things in the banks. Cant see that at the minute. If she didnt work for them I'd probably move banks.

I think all banks close at 12pm on a Saturday, which in this day and age is quite a backwards thing to do. At least I've got internet banking which makes life a bit easier.
