Hi all

Does anyone know where HSBC's bank account switching form is on their website? All I can find is a phone number to call to switch.

Many thanks

M

Phone / Branch only afaik.

HSBC and technology do not mix. Their systems are abysmal and would probably end up with a lot of dead hamsters if they tried to implement an online facility for such a thing.

Left HSBC last month, mistake after mistake over the last year or so just took its toll.

Their internet knowledge is ... Lacking.

same here after 30 years with them and there mistake s and un helpful Ness over the last year I left them as well. Biggest thing with them is there indian call center .
Better banks, building societies out there

You know what I've just switched to Halifax from 16 years of HSBC and found everything so much more pleasant when reading about their accounts and what they offer etc.

HSBC everything is written in way that is hard to follow and their online banking is well past its sell by date.

HSBC are not that great online but they were fantastic for me in store when I was sorting my mortgage, really couldn't ask for anything more from them.

As someone who knows their mortgage systems / processing as well as those of other banks, I can only assume you have never taken a mortgage from anyone else? Believe me when I say their mortgage processing is antiquated and like going back 20 years for most other banks.

Halifax are a bunch of monkeys compared to HSBC (have active accounts with both).

Touch wood HSBC have been perfect to me over 20 years. They refunded me £1800 worth of interest on an old loan recently because they messed up the dates on some statements. Completely off their own back following an internal review. Was very nice :D

I would agree with somebody above that they are very good in-branch, but I can't say I have to go there very often, once a year perhaps.

I've always thought hsbc were great to be honest :/
Apart from the fact they never seem to have people at the branches, got to pay-in through a machine.

Awful bank, my current account was with them for ~8 years before uni and was refused a student account because i went overdrawn by a couple of quid. :p

Switched to NatWest and was accepted for a student account, now have that along with a CC and savings account. CS is much better and their online banking is miles better than HSBC's. Everything is there including my CC.

Don't really see how it could have been simpler. Only had 1 meeting with an advisor in a private room with tea/coffee and biscuits and they did the rest?

Yea ok it looked like the computer system was a complete mess and it was a lot more work than it should have been for their staff I'm sure, but didn't really effect me at all. The mortgage was/is also significantly cheaper than anywhere else, so bonus! :)

This is a serious question. What do you all use banks for? I mean in what way did they make mistakes etc that make you want to leave?

I just get my pay put into the bank and that's it. I never set foot in them bar one or two appointments about my mortgage and that was sorted in 2 days.

Sent my new card to the wrong branch, 60 miles away.
Locked me out of interweb banking, couldn't tell me when or why, took months to get it back.
Failed, twice, to set up a standing order for my rent.
Change of address took two attempts and three weeks.
Was promised a contactless card when my last one team out, but it's wasn't.
Sending me adverts for loans they know I'm not eligible for.

I've only switched now by looking into savings options and discovering that I can earn money for nothing in a different current account, will be looking to switch again when I have a bit more savings and can take advantage of a different account.

First direct (a subsidiary of HSBC) are fantastic.

I have experience with halifax, Lloyds TSB, first direct, and Barclaycard, and I have always had a pleasant experience with the online banking systems from Lloyds, halifax and Barclaycard. first direct's online banking system isn't particularly intuitive or pleasant to use in comparison to that offered by banks in the Lloyds group, which is somewhat ironic for an online and telephone-only bank.

I would agree that first direct has the best telephone banking service though, although Lloyds TSB and halifax also had UK based call centers when I last used them (admittedly over a year ago).
