HT question.

With the 950, yes it will. In a positive way. It will reduce temps by quite a bit and allow you to overclock further :)

turning off HT does wonders for most games that really utilise a quadcore. HT mimics 8 cores, but it also cuts you speed in half. a 4ghz 4core 2600k will become a 2ghz 8core 2600k. bf3 benefits more from a fast quadcore than a weak octocore

Just surfing and saw this, can't be true, can it?

Sometimes I wish I knew more.

No it's a load of rubbish.

The only reason turning off HT might help some games is that it produces more heat. Bloomfield CPUs can often be about 10 C cooler with HT off, which can help you reach higher clock speeds if you're temperature limited. I don't think most i7-2600Ks are temperature limited when it comes to overclocking though.

LOL that's not true at all! Where did you find that?

Basically HT takes advantage of the spare resources not being used on the core, and in turn makes them into another core. It's this that allows the core to handle two threads. But this means overall, each core will handle twice the workload. Hence the extra power consumption and heat. The speed stays the same, don't worry about that...
