They have to be fatter, else they'd not fit the desire, n1 and desire are not the same size remember!, which is why they're called desire neoprone cases 
They aren't official but they're by no means the same quality as other so called "fake" pouches. Give one to a stranger without telling them where it came from and they'd be none the wiser.

Hey guys, here's a quick look at the brando 'anti-glare' screen protector for the desire.
Before: New Desire vs v.dirty/naked 1st gen iPhone (which is directed more towards the sun) The colours and clarity are still good with the iPhone but you can bearly see the Desires screen, the colours are non existant and while the text is bearly legible, eye strain here we come! If fact this is the worst screen I've used outside for a long time... Edit: Desires brightness is set at 100%, iPhone ~60%
After: With Brando sp applied. The colour definition is still poor but the screen is now usable, a little sharpness has been lost but the higher res is now noticeable over the iPhone (which gets a clean for the first time in 3 years

Take your SPAM elsewhere.
No problems here, protects the phone nicely enough but the hard cases are more convenient and more protective,
