HTC DESIRE firmware update with version number 2.10.405.2 out now

Just did an OTA update and have a 25mb file coming down, not seen any other threads so here's a heads up..

HTC has just released a firmware update with version number 2.10.405.2 for some European HTC Desires, and it is obtainable OTA (over-the-air). Those eligible for the upgrade should be notified automatically before long, and if you can’t wait for your Android to work its magic you can always head to Settings > About phone > System software updates and press the ‘Check now’ button.

We have yet to actually confirm in which exact regions this firmware update is available, but all points to that unlocked HTC Desires in Europe should be able to download it, and that branded devices soon will get it too.

The firmware upgrade is 25 MB and includes:

Android OS update patch
Enhanced multi inbox Gmail support
Improved RUS keyboard layout

Nice to know HTC keep their devices up to date quite often! Bloody Samsung :mad:

What does the Android OS update do to 2.2? Is there a bug fix list somewhere?

It's a pretty hefty upgrade if you're coming from 2.1, this OTA is just little

*Be Warned* there is a bug in the new OTA update today, it generates errors in wifi and wont let you connect. HTC are aware and making a patch.

people are saying on another forum its down to if you have de-branded using a gold card.

Wifi works fine on mine. All stock though.

It simply said Wifi: Error

To solve this probleme all you have to do is to reinstall the patch manually but this time using a gold card. (Yeah i forget to use one on my unbranded phone... this could be the source of the wifi error)

1.) reuse your old or create a new gold card
2.) download the patch 2.10.405.2 manually
[ota] htc eu 2.10.405.2 - 2.09.405.8 - xda-developers
3.) rename the OTA_Bravo_HTC_EU_2.10.405.2-2.09.405.8_releaseol2djq7rqarka2ka.zip file to update.zip and copy it to the root of your gold card
3.) reboot in recovery mode with your gold card inside and select the install:update.zip file as explained in the froyo guide

4.) reboot
5.) enjoy!

Remember: Next time use your gold card before updating the software
