HTC Desire HD (Ace)

um i could be wrong but i saw a guy on the bus today with this phone, i was a bit shocked as i thought they werent out? import or something?
anyway looked nice....

Most probably the HD2 running Android mate :p They look quite similar, given the screen size, and the Desire HD ROM has been ported to the HD2 :p

Just been in Tmobile in Nottingham and spoke to a gentleman who said they may have the desire hd in tomorrow?! I then went to Vodafone who said preorders now won't be taken till the 22nd of October and expect a release at the start of November. Presuming Tmobile guy was miss informed as Vodafones dates sounding more realistic.

IIRC from last time I upgraded my phone, the T-Mobile stores get their handset deliveries on a Thursday so that might be the logic behind what you got told.

I rang the Upgrades department yesterday at T-Mobile after seeing the phone change from the coming soon section to the actual pay monthly tariff section on the website and got told that they weren't fully on the system and I should call back in about 10 days when they have the handsets available.

The way companies operate 0845 numbers should be seriously ******* regulated. I've had to ring two different companies today with one spending a total of 20 minutes mostly on hold. The second call to MPD, lasting 6 minutes, just gives me a message at the end saying "We're experiencing a high volume of calls at the moment, email us instead", and cuts me off. So it's taken 6 minutes of premium rate call for absolutely nothing at all, not even an option to stick around until someone becomes available. Bloody ridiculous!

Anyone know who it is best to order from?

Carphone Warehouse, MPD or mobiles.co.uk? Swayed by Carphone Warehouse, as they have a proper store, and I can just walk in with any issues, and it also means I can pick it up. Going to wait for a better Vodafone deal though, current one really sucks.

I just really want this phone, getting fed up of Android from SD card on my HD2. While good, the music stuttering is quite annoying :(

Never heard of ***********.com then? :p

Edit: Ok so apparently that website address is banned, probably because OcUK use an 0845 number :p. Just Google '0870' instead.

Always my first port of call :D The number they had put me through to the 'finance department', as soon as I wanted to talk sales she gave me the 0845 number :(

Just got this from MPD:

Dear Customer

Your new HTC Desire HD!

The latest information regarding your delivery has not changed - ‘we are still expecting to be able to fulfil your order by the end of October’.

This will have no impact on you being one of the first customers to receive this amazing new phone!

There is no need to call us, we promise to update you with further information next week.

Just phoned MPD and they say on their website

"We are an HTC ultimate partner - HTC have advised of delays due to Android OS testing. Limited stock is expected end Oct and we will supply Desire HD on a first ordered first delivered basis"

However the guy on the phone isn't able to say if I'd be one of the 'special' customers, how many they have coming, how many they have allocated, in fact it sounded all a bit like give us your money and we'll let you have it when we get it.

I think I'll wait until someone actually has some in stock

That can't be true either - if it was just a matter of compatibility testing for network operators' custom firmware then the SIM-free unlocked ones would be available BEFORE the networks' devices! ;)
Never believe marketing reps! :)

None are available yet :p Pretty much still all rumour.

i'm starting to wonder if Kazunori Yamauchi has something to do with these phones...

I have a desire and it's pretty cool. I wanted an android but did not want to go with the iphone brigade. Love the desire. For me it was the right choice
