HTC Desire HD (Ace)

Seems my decision to just get one through CPW was justified as by the looks of it some of you are really being messed about by T-Mobile ... I would prolly still be waiting for one too!

@rogueblade - just go to CPW or get one through mobiles.co.uk as you might not get one this side of Christmas otherwise!

Does anyone know how to exit the built in web browser properly? if iv been browsing, to exit out of the app I have to keep pressing back back back back, highly annoying.

Also, how do I get root access to remove apps I dont want?

Starting to get abit annoyed slightly, also having issues with it locking up between switching screens.

Another issue I have run in to, all of a sudden one day my phone stopped auto-rotating, I had noticed the Auto-rotate setting had some how disabled, so I enabled it again, and for some reason it just will not auto-rotate anymore, when I create a new SMS, it will ALWAYS display in the screen in landscape no matter what way I hold it. However if I go in to my root menu, it displays in landscape, if I drill down in to a submenu it will go to landscape, and again it wont switch when I move the phone around.

Could be a faulty sensor I am thinking

More salt you want?

My was delivered the very next day after I agreed on a deal with Vodafone. I am not sure what T-mobile are playing at.

2 weeks on and I am happy with this phone. At first I wasn't sure about it but now I would say it is the best phone I have ever owned (I have owned a few!). Initially the battery life was poor but now it really isn't so bad lasting a day easily, which is fine by me. Speaker is quiet for hearing calls but I still love this phone!

Last night I went looking for an iplayer app on the market place. Couldn't find anything.. so thought what the heck lets try browsing to the iplayer site (thinking it wouldn't work). Freaking amazing, it worked and worked well .

This phone rocks. It has turned everything I hated about the HTC Magic into goodness. Big screen for my fat fingers along with such a responsive android OS that I think it can almost read my mind at times - lightning fast straight out of the box no rooting or installing custom ROMs necessary.

There is that enough salt? ;)

Just press the home key. It's not recommend to force close apps with Froyo - just let Android manage it.

Also, did I hear someone wanted salt with a side helping of more salt?

I was a new customer coming from Vodafone to T-Mobile. Called up on the morning of Friday 21 October with barely any prior correspondence, haggled to get the phone for free (instead of £90) and it arrived the next day before 1pm.

For whatever reason, I'm thinking they just don't want your custom :/.

@rogueblade: They must be giving you one hell of a deal if your willing to wait this long?? I've had mine for like 3 weeks now and Voda sent it to me straight after me calling their sales team!

So used to having a big screen now, used my Dad's Desire briefly last night and was like "omg the phone is tiny!" :D

Anyone recently had any luck getting one direct from T-mobile over the phone, or are they struggling with stock?

Went into my local store on Monday to upgrade and was told it would be in by today but just phoned them up and they now say they don't know when they will be getting them in...same thing happened to a friend about 9months ago and they led him on for a month or so, that store seems to be useless for getting stock.

From what has been said here, i am one of the few who managed to get the phone from the stock they got last Friday. But they do seem to be struggling. I would agree with advise further up in the thread about getting it through CPW or anywhere else if you can.

I'm on a 50% off friends and relations contract with t-mobile which I don't want to give up just for the sake of a phone, so I'm stuck only going through t-mobile directly.

I'm in no rush, so I guess I'll just phone them and get it put on order and wait a few weeks.

EDIT: just phoned up the Edinburgh tmobile store in the off chance they had one in stock and the guy mentioned that HTC are having manufacturing issues (who knows if thats true or not) but it will be at least few weeks before they get them in stock anywhere with t-mobile, but im on a contact list for when they do, so I guess I'll just wait.

Strange that they are having manufacturing problems just for the T-Mobile handsets :P I guess atleast its a different excuse from the rest!

I called them up on Friday 19th. I had a note on my account before this saying that once they come in stock they would send me one (which they probably wouldnt have done unless i called them).

I think I have a similar note on my account now becuase when I called on Wednesday I left her my current number so she could call me tomorrow (Friday) to tell me if they got stock and can dispatch my phone....I'm going to call tomorrow either way and threaten a cancel if nothing happens, hopefully they will then do something....we'll see.

Could that be part of the reason they're waiting forever to give me my phone? The type of deal I got? My deal is nothing special:
£70 phone
£25 a month (18 month contract)
600min
500texts
3GB data.

I don't want to/can't really cancel with T-mobile and order with someone else as I've only lived here for 4 months and failed the credit check with everyone, even T-Mobile.

It was only when I called T-Mobile to tell them I'd passed the credit check with my e2save order and was getting a T-Mobile contract through e2save that T-Mobile then said "NO WORRIES YOU'VE PASSED THE CREDIT CHECK NOW" and let me order through them directly.

The credit check is a lie people.
So yea, that's why I gotta wait this out and keep my order with T-Mobile or else I'll be back to square one and failing everyone's credit checks all over again.

It's weird because every time I call T-Mobile to ask them about my phone delivery they always ask "How/When did you place your order" in a very confused tone. I always tell them over the phone as that is how I ordered, but when I did the girl didn't ask for any bank details so she must have grabbed the data/info straight out of my original e2save order that they didn't want me to follow through with?

Maybe all the above relates to why I have yet to receive a phone. But I do have the sim card and first month bill, so it's not like they're still undecided on whether or not to let me have the contract, that's why I'm confused.

My battery has turned into superman the last couple of days, its lost 17% in 23 hours, and I've had the screen on (so using it) for over an hour and a half.

(Yes, I know I keep posting about the battery, but as its one of the main talking points of this phone - and it really shouldn't be - I think its good that people get the message across :p)

I'm still wearing my battery in but it seemed to do really well last night with about 2 hours of gaming, music and iplayer I was down to 75% and it wasn't even fully charged. I think one of the key factors was switching the screen back to auto brightness and switching off a couple of useless sync options.

On another note, poweramp is possibly the best phone music app I have ever used, definitely worth buying.

Had this phone, for just over a month now, absolutley love it. Upgraded from a Nokia 6610!

Battery hasn't been much of a problem, been caught out twice, charging it every night is a habit now though.

@Skyfall

Do you get much extra with the paid version of poweramp?

How did you get loyalty discount? I got the phone the week of release and I'm on the same package with Three (24 month, 500Mb) at £27 p/m and beginning to feel I am paying over the odds :(

Only just saw this. That's not a bad deal you're getting there! Is that with loyalty discount as well?

I got loyalty discount on my last contract with them on the N97 after they lied to me about how much they were charging me. When I phoned them up about the upgrade, they just said they'll continue giving me the £10 loyalty discount so I was quite surprised. Since it ended up cheaper than my old contract, I didn't hesitate.

Yeah, you get to use it :p. Otherwise it locks itself after a certain number of days, 28 or so I think.
