htc desire hd first charge

Hi guys,

Sat here on the way back from Manchester with a new desire hd! Exciting!

Can somebody tell me how long i need to charge it for first time, to ensure best battery life?

Can i turn it on now?! lol i'm like a small child.

Min 18 hours and don't turn it on till after this or you will ruin the battery.

I can't say i agree with that every single phone I have had hero,milestone,desire,galaxy s, Iphone 4, desire hd, omnia 7 I have used while charging and it certainly has never hurt any of my battery's, getting 2 days out of my Omnia 7.

18 hours?! most reports that i have read just say charge it first time until it states it's full...!

Lithium-ion is a very clean system and does not need priming as nickel-based batteries do. The 1st charge is no different to the 5th or the 50th charge. Stickers instructing to charge the battery for 8 hours or more for the first time may be a leftover from the nickel battery days

just charge it till its full, you will find anyway that its most likely 50% charged anyway when you plug it in.

Just charge it and play at the same time as all of us do when we get new phones.

I didn't even charge mine. I turned it on and did all my setup, waited until it told me it needed charging, then charged it until it was full.

That being said I had to take back my desire HD twice because the battery wouldn't last longer then 4 hours. This 3rd desire HD is working great. Im getting around 36 hours out of one charge depending on usage.

I got a Desire(non HD) not long ago, I took it out of it's box stuck my sim in & the charger then ran it until i got bored then just left it on the side till full charge, It lasts 2 days after a full charge.
All that Battery chat BS is left over from the old days.
