Was puzzled not to find any mention of this phone whilst browsing this forum. As an alternative to the Desire HD as the Desire's predecessor it seems to have gone relatively unnoticed. Does anyone own one or have any intentions of buying one?

Am due for upgrade currently and am considering going for one, I initially wanted the Desire HD but it just seemed to big when i checked one out in a shop. The battery life of the Desire S seems like another plus point, despite its slightly less impressive hardware spec.

I know I know, it's not a dual core just as tonnes are being released, but I don't plan on any gaming or other hugely intensive programs and I doubt I would be able to get a dual core phone at a price I wanted with my current contract anyway.

So does anyone have any thoughts?

They are good, but I'd try and get an Xperia Arc instead as they are a bit cheaper than (some) dual core phones and certainly better than the Desire S on the whole.

The HTC Desire was a ground breaking phone that has a very good community following. I don't think the HTC Desire S is huge amount superior to the old model. I must admit the unibody design should give it a quality feel, I think it will appeal to the mainstream phone buyers but the enthusiasts will look elsewhere.

I finally ordered one of these on Thursday night, still waiting on everything processing through as its a bank holiday weekend, got it on 3 with 900 mins, 5k texts and 1gb internet and some free msn and skype all for £25 a month :D

Does anybody have a link to some settings best battery life

ps a big thank you to Robbo who answered some of my previous questions as well as providing a lot of advise about phones/phone tech which i read through in others threads, even tho i didnt get the new dual core sgs2 which is too large for my girly hands haha

If I was to upgrade my Desire, I'd wait a few more months because this isn't a huge leap in terms of performance and features; that's probably why there isn't a great deal of interest over it here on OcUK.
