HTC Desire - Yahoo email problem

Hi

I have my Yahoo email account setup on my HTC desire but the account on the phone doesn't synch properly with my actual email account.

The HTC will download the email but if I delete it on the phone it doesn't delete on my actual email account.

Also once email has downloaded to my phone if I delete it on my actual email account it still stays on the phone.

It seems as if all the HTC Yahoo email does is download the emails and that's it.

The exchange account I have on my HTC works fine.

Any ideas?
 
I think its due to it operating differently to a push email/exchange server system.

I know Yahoo dont support this on the Desire yet.

(If thats what you mean, I might be wrong) :p
 
I think you need to setup the phone for IMAP. But im pretty sure Yahoo don't support that yet? Maybe on the plus account but i carn't see anything on the free one
 
It worked fine on my iphone!!!

I have a Yahoo Plus account so i'll try it via imap.

Yes, but perhaps the iPhone set it up on the phone settings as Imap automatically for you whereas you need to set this manually on Android.

As many people have mentioned - iPhone is popular as it does things like this for the user itself.... Kind of a patronising babysitting type concept whereas Android lets you use the phone the way YOU want to use it but this requires a bit more setup.


This aint an attack on Apple - just simple fact.
 
i'd be interested in seeing how you get on Ish, this is one of the things I want to make sure works before I commit to buying one of these phones. The imap server settings above are the ones to try.
 
It works fine with IMAP and my Yahoo plus account. It syncs properly now.

The settings I used were:-

imap.mail.yahoo.com
port 143

smtp.mail.yahoo.com
port 587
