Surprised to find there isn't a thread on this already! This looks like a fantastic upcoming phone; rumoured to have a 5" 1080p screen (1796 x 1080 with 126 of the 1920 used for onscreen keys), S4pro (quadcore S4 A15) at 1.512GHz with Adreno 320 GPU and 4G and smokes current high-end handsets specs-wise.

Looks to have a very thin bezel and non-removable battery from supposedly leaked photos in the links - let's hope they put a decent sized battery in it. I've gotten used to taking a spare battery with me for my note. If it doesn't have a fixed battery and they include a Wolfson DAC and microSD slot I would pick one up shortly after release with no hesitation. It certainly makes the Note 2 look like a very lazy refresh by Samsung.

It may be showcased on September 19th with rumours of a potential late September/October release date.

This does look very interesting.

I think the size would be okay, it's closer to the S3 than the Note anyway. As long as the bezel is small it should be fine to handle.

What if this is going to be the Nexus phone offering from HTC, and it comes with stock Jelly Bean... a dream phone?

*sigh*

HTC, please focus on the issues of the One X first.

In typical HTC fashion, they seem to have abandoned the One S and X (not entirely, but somewhat) as they didn't take much market share off Samsung.

If it was a nexus phones that comes in the size of One x/s3 that would be great.

This is because the One X didnt come ready for the Tegra chip set, lead to a horrid phone expereince in comparision to the S3. The recent update 'fixed' some of these issues I think but they should have had that at the release.

Hmmm, HTC design, build and perceived quality chassis with S4 (not dual but quad), adreno 320 GPU, 1080P screen!!!!! Along with a great camera, sure that it will be improved upon the S/X camera. This is going to be the one phone to rule them all!

Probably won't have a SD slot though even more so if it is one of the nexus phones.

And as Robbo said, if it is one of googles branded phones/stock android, the dream phone then! (even though will loose some of the great features of sense such as the camera and gallery :()

They haven't abandoned them at all, they are just very slow at providing the updates :p :o

Wonder if it is just because they are still trying to bring ICS to most of their other phones. I am sure that if they followed Samsung etc. update policy (as in only updating like 2-3 phones at max) both the S and X users would have had a lot more updates by now and possibly be getting JB very soon. There are apparently some leaks floating around of JB for the one X.

I read it's supposed to ship with ICS, but I guess it's difficult to know considering it's such early days.

I really hope they have a removable battery or a large capacity battery - 1800mAh for the one X is puny.

Battery shouldn't be too much of an issue as long as they have a bigger battery than 1800mAh (which they should do anyway, considering the jump in screen size and res.) as the S4 is very power efficient and the IPS screen of the X is also very good regarding power consumption. The biggest downfall of the X for battery life is the tegra chip and poor optimization, it has apparently improved somewhat in the last update, but still no where near the S and GS 3.

The one XL using the S4 dual core (same screen as the X and same battery) has amazing battery life, people are getting up to 6 hours on screen time spread across 1-2 days with auto brightness and normal usage like wifi on all the time, browsing, few games etc.

I think a lack of SD slot in a phone capable of playing such high-res video would be a stupid move.

As you said with this type of phone it would be very stupid, however, it is HTC, quietly brilliant in certain areas and extremely stupid in other areas :p Just look at the S, X and V :p :o

Although it is pretty much a given that it won't have a SD slot if it is one of the nexus phones, as the nexus S, galaxy nexus and nexus 7 don't have SD slots and google is really wanting to push cloud storage etc.

Will need atleast 32gb then.

Most definitely!

Going to be one expensive phone if these specs are true, maybe even more expensive than the iphone 5 when released  :o

:p

It might be a full tablet... Guess we'll find out soon enough.

I still keeping thinking that's a bloody 24" iMac. Keep needing to double-take!

As you said Monkey Puzzle, this could be the perfect phone if they get everything right. My issue with HTC is that they often come so close to creating something that is nearly perfect...but just not close enough. Shame as I would buy an HTC over a Samsung device any day if it weren't for the minor niggling issues. Wouldn't say this device is too big though, it's about right considering that we have such high pixel densities with 4.8" 720p displays. Should be pocketable (the S3 was a huge surprise for me, fits just as well as my 4S did).
