**HTC HD2 Thread**

So after trying a few different phones, Desire, Milestone etc etc, I've shelled out for a HD2.
Not regretted it for one minute up to press...

Anyone using a good screen protector they can suggest to me?

This 1.7 rom, I've got the 1.66 on there at the mo, do I need to do anything before running 1.7? Will it wipe out my docs and stuff? Will installed programs on the memory card be uninstalled by the rom?

I have just got shot of my HD2 - I really thought it was a pile of poo. The phone is so powerful but the UI is just pants.

I take it just stuck with the stock ROMs then?

I cannot fault my current Dutty ROM, smooth as silk, no bugs, no issues at all.

I have to say I keep getting put off from doing a custom ROM upgrade. Keep convincing myself it will go wrong, etc. I don't find the guides particularly straightforward either. Like the whole of the XDA site which is very jumbled with excessively long thread titles, no definitive guide on which is the best ROMs and which have the best features. Altogether quite off putting unless you are a diehard tweaker.

It really could not be simpler to be fair....

1- Install HSPL...easy
2- Flash your Radio (check with your desired rom first which radio to flash)
3- Flash your Rom

It really is as easy as double clicking a .exe in the end but you just have to make sure your phone has the right SPL on it before HSPL can be installed.

Flashing the Radio is the scariest part but that only takes about a minute and past that its pretty damn hard to brick ya phone.

Dont be scared of it, just read the guides and read em again and if there is a term you don't understand Google is ya friend....

I'm on the Elegancia Rom and love it to bits.

The XDA site is designed for you to choose the ROM you want and not judge it against anybody else's rom as they are all unique. Once youv'e been there a while it makes perfect sense :D

Its about actively encouraging people to cook roms and not be told 'well its not as good as ******'s rom'.

It really is that simple. I was fretting about doing it but when I actually sat down and read it, it took about 10 mins total and was very simple.

I felt the same but after a week or 2 of lurking it started to get a bit clearer.

As for usefull apps check out some of these:

myPlayer - iplayer 4oD freeview and some other stuff all mixed into one
coreplayer - media player, needed for myplayer
iGo - good sat nav
TorchButton - uses flash as a torch
GRemote Pro - use your phone as a mouse/keyboard/remote over wireless
MorphGear - Megadrive and SNES emulator
FpseCE - PS1 emulator
mySpot - spotify, only works with a premium account though.
MyMobiler - While connected to pc you can control the phone and write texts etc through windows with the keyboard.

I don't have many games but the warcraft 2 one is prety good, as is Bejeweled 2 and Pool Rebels.

cheers for those, will take a look. anyone have troubles with activesync? mine worked for a while but now it wont detect the phone but it will work in disk drive mode.

Anyone know a good IRC client for WM? My free evaluation copy of wmirc ran out...
I would have used an SSH client but they're all rubbish.

soundb0y do you have any tips for myplayer and coreplayer? myplayer wont work at all when connected to wifi and cant connect and coreplayer wont play anything other than stored files, no radio or tv etc.

What does it do without the wifi? If you try to play a video on myplayer it should automatically minimise and start playing on coreplayer.
