HTC Hero Reception Issues

Howdy Folks!

Just got myself a sim free HTC hero. Quite pleased with it apart from the shockingly poor signal reception. I'm on vodafone and get full 3G signal on my BB bold and various Nokias in the house and office. However, the hero barely gives me 2 bars and keeps 'fluctuating' between 2g and 3g.

Has anyone else experienced these issues? I hope its not a dodgy handset given that I bought it from a private seller who got it as an upgrade on his contract so may not be able to return it.

Oh and I've upgraded to the latest rom but the signal issues are still there.

Sorry a bit confused here... radio flash is diff from Rom upgrade? If yes where can I find it? And will it actually improve reception?

what version is your baseband? phone settings - > about phone -> baseband.

before flashing the radio i wasn't getting any 3G signal in my area. now i'm getting 3G most of the time!

Isn't modaco a Rom upgrade rather than radio upgrade?

Dont expect miracles from updating the radio. The Hero hasnt got the best receiver.
