HTC One locking up

Had my HTC one now for around five months. In the last month my phone has locked up four times.

When I say locked up, first time while playing a game it just froze and I couldn't turn it off. I had to search on google to figure how to power it down by holding the volume down and power key for a while.

Today it did it searching the web, going to try a wipe today to see if that cures it, but not holding my breath. After that Ill have to send it back for repair.

My phone isn't rooted, unlocked or modded in anyway.

My question is has anyone else had the same issue or can advise on how to trouble shoot it?

Software version. You have the latest one and there's not really any common problems with that. When the phone freezes, does the phone feel very warm? Do you have a case on it that's possibly locking the heat into the phone?
 
No consistency, I am in the process of doing a format/factory reset.

I will install only what I need and keep it as standard as I can for now, It could be an app that isn't working well after the latest updates, not really sure at this stage.

Se how she goes.

Bugger forgot the name of the launcher I used, know it wasn't Launcher Pro, what's the other popular ones?
 
Launcher Pro... that's an old one :p.

There was ADW and Go that was popular with GB devices, but the favourite ones now are Nova and Apex. I've used both of these with no problems on my HO.
