HTC Touch HD... 800x400, 5MP, GPS, 3G, 3.5mm jack...

Ermmm well £550 is a good price if your buying it sim free ie unlocked and not branded by any network etc.

Now if you buy the phone with a contract, it tends to work out a lot more expensive but you dont cough up the money before u get the phone. For example....you might get the HD on a free contract at say £40 a mth but the contract lasts 18 mths...so 40x18=£720 that your paying over 18mths but as i said you dont feel the pinch as your only paying £40 a mth over 18 mths.

Personally im not a fan of network branded phones so im quite happy to pay £500 odd quid to get a phone that i wont have to de-brand in order to get the best out of it:)....plus most networks are notorious ie Vodaphone in particular at disabling certain features of the phone.

Personally I think £500+ for a phone is way too steep. I mean it’s only a phone. Anyways that’s all a matter of opinion.

£40 a month for 18 months = £720 and that’s including the 18months worth of credit you use.
Sim free £550+
So that’s £170 difference.
Now if only there wasn’t an 18month barrier the contract would look more appealing to me. Yet more and more it seems to becoming 18month instead of the 12 they used to offer.

And tbh I can’t see anyone getting better deals on a sim free contract, as you would have to be paying less than £10 to make it even worth going the sim only route. And generally you would get a semi okay-ish deal with the contract anyway.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for sim free. I don't like to be tied into contracts. I'm just going to wait until the price comes down a hell of allot :p.

Anyways rant over :p.

This phone is gorgeous. I can only hope early next year this comes down to a respectable price in my eyes :o.

Apparently Orange will be getting this for release in December in the UK, no other news of other providers at this point. I doubt O2 will as it will be in direct competition with the iPhone 3G....

Looks really nice, don't know if i can wait any longer for a mobile as the one i'm using is on its last legs. So x1 it is.

it would be make a nice change if orange did get this early, I'm waitingbfor them to get the touch pro and getting very impatient with them.

I would probably pickup experia instead of that. Too used to proper qwerty.
And who cares about camera or flash... i mean... it's a phone, the photo quality is crap on it anyways. Just get a normal camera for photos.

The built in cameras were a good stuff where it came out, some funky trick, everyone was so crazy about it but now, be honest and say how many times you've used your inbuilt camera after having your new phone for more than first 3months ?

I use my N82 regularly... especially when going out on a night. Proper flash = decent pics. If cameras had better cameras people would use them much more.

I can't be bothered carrying a camera round with me on the off chance that I might want to take a photo so a decent camera in a phone is ideal for me.
While I'm sure that a dedicated camera would produce better results, I find that my k800 is good enough for me. And if I shrink the photos by 50% to reduce the artifacting they come out at a good size and quality. Once printed off on photo paper they're great, so why would I want to carry the extra device with me.

Now all I need to do is get enough memory to ditch the ipod.

Check the pictures taken with the C905 here

They look great to me :)
I'm sure the purists would disagree with me, but that's their perogative.

Dammit. Just saw some videos on it on YouTube and I'm sold on it (more so than the Touch Pro). The only thing that is stopping me is the lack of flash! I don't care if it's LED, dual LED or Xenon - just add a flash for God's sake! That would make it the perfect purchase for me.

Large screen? Check.
3.5mm audio jack? Check.
Camera at least 2Mpx and video recording? Check.
Expansion slot? Check.
FLASH... ?!

And as for the price tag.. I definitely wouldn't hesitate splashing ~£500 on it. After all, I've been waiting for the right phone to upgrade to (been a few months since my contract expired) but I'm still waiting for the right one: sat-nav, MP3 player, camera, (business) phone. I need a sat-nav and I want an MP3 player and those would cost a good £200-400 anyway but if I can get both plus a good camera all-in-one, then £500 is definitely justified.

Dammit HTC, add a flash!

It's just more convenient not having to lug around a digital camera on nights out to pubs and clubs.

Might have to wait a bit longer til I splash out now. :(

I gave up and swapped to Vodaphone. With the utterly stupid pricing for upgrades it was much the better option.

Touch Pro, £38/mo, £40 for the phone.

Compared to £200 for an Omnia on upgrade ( or £120 for a diamond ) for a similar contract.

Yet another person who I could have helped.

It is possible to keep your number on Orange, but get it as a new contract.

Leave Orange, port your number to a Virgin pay as you go sim, then take out a new Orange contract and port your number back across, simple :)

On I knew it was feasible to work around however Orange don't seem to be in any rush to get the Pro and will happily put

Frankly with the crap upgrade prices and lack of the pro they don't deserve to keep me.

Not just that but the HD at £80 on a £40, 18 month contract costs MORE than the Vodaphone deal on the Pro and the Pro is IMO a better phone. No headphone jack but you do get the slide out full QWERTY keyboard.

See, I HAVE to stay with them, 40% retailer discount on line rental.
