Wow a 720p res on 4.3-inch screen

As it was previously rumored, HTC Vigor is going to utilize a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor and a 4.3-inch 720p display. There will also be an 8 megapixel snapper at the back that will be doing 1080p video recording. The Vigor will be the first handset in the HTC Beats lineup (backed up with Beats by Dr Dre sound innovations) and is going to run on the latest Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread skinned with the latest HTC Sense 3.5 UI .

Add this to the rumoured HTC Ruby - HTC are on the churn again.

nice
let the battery be better then in DHD!

Im due to upgrade in 2 months so that could be my new phone

It's probably a pipe dream that it will be a thin as an S2 and as light? :p one can only hope!

Yet will still be let down by a screen that's unusable is direct sunlight and terrible battery life. I used to defend the HTC Desire 's battery life but the Galaxy SII battery lasts me 48 hours on a completely stock ROM and that's with some fairly high usage.

There is one thing I love about Apple. At least when you buy the iPhone within a month or so of its launch, you know it won't be replaced by something better literally 35 seconds down the line...

It won't be replaced by Apple, no. But it will be outclassed by the next generation of phones by other manufacturers released within the same 35 second time frame (and maybe even at the same time)

Brand loyalty makes no sense in this market imo.

It's really only HTC that are really bad like this. The Galaxy S remained Samsung's flagship model for a year, same with Sony Ericsson and the X10. But as competition continues to hot up long lead times will become less and less viable. The biggest problem with the Sensation that it wasn't as good as the SGS2 so it was on the back foot from the start.

It does make sense, not everyone is bothered about the hardware. The leaps forward are decent but not huge.

Spoken like a true person who has never actually compared the Galaxy S II in direct sunlight to another phone, the original SAMOLED was good but the Galaxy S II one is absolutely shocking in direct sunlight.

The Sensation screen is better for that.

Anyway, this phone looks decent (if real).

I wouldn't say the GSII screen is anywhere close to shocking in direct sunlight. Mine is perfectly legible so either your eyes have degraded somewhat or your phone is dodgy. I know my eyes and phone are not faulty that's for sure.

Ok, perhaps shocking wasn't the right word to use, but it is inferior to the Sensation. It wasn't something that I expected, either.

it's par for course for amoled displays, though it is noted the i9000 (s1) is better than the i9100 (s2). amoled has no backlight, it stands to reason that perhaps brightness (which is the primary driver for visibility outdoors) might not be as good as a backlit lcd. There are exceptions, such as the nokia x7.

if you want brightness, the nokia e6 is supposed to be amazingly bright with over two times more output than the sensation. It's the brightest phone out there. I know there are other factors involved but i'd be very surprised of the e6 wasnt the best performer outdoors.

I was merely correcting someone that said the Sensation screen (assuming that is what he meant) was unusable in direct sunlight when it is actually quite fine. I assumed it wouldn't be great too, but it is.

The Galaxy SII screen is far more eligible in direction sunlight than the Sensation (at least, the one I tried was definitely poorer), it's one of the main reasons why I decided to keep the Galaxy SII after saying I was going to exchange it for the Sensation due to missing HTC Sense.

When outside, the brightness automatically ramps up and I have absolutely no issues reading the screen at all.
