A lot depends on what your HTPC is going to do. If we are talking video and audio only it's quite high end (in relative terms) and I can't see a use for an i5, just my opinion though. I know for my planned HTPC (need funding first) it'll do a little more and the higher spec is useful.

Its the encoding of video that I think will require more cpu grunt as it will likely be streaming as well as doing this, I would have just went with a llano set up, I already have a decent silent gfx card to go in the system.

If the celeron is sufficient I wont upgrade but i would like the option.
