Hi, can anyone suggest a case designed for an ATX PSU and preferably a mATX motherboard (if not, mITX will do).

I want it to be a HTPC style case (horizontal as opposed to tower style)

Thanks

There are many out there, whats your budget?

How many HDD's will you be installing? What PSU do you have? How tall is your CPU Cooler? Will you be using a discrete GPU?

A spec of your system would help. In fact is the sig rig your HTPC?

no specific budget, just getting ideas.
one SSD, one 3.5" HDD to begin with.
140mm long ATX PSU.
I don't have any other components, these choices will be made when I have some idea of what cases are available...

My HTPC has been running in an Antec Fusion case since I first built it (2007/2008), it's the only component I can't see myself upgrading. It holds 2 HDDs and an SSD (there's no mount for the SSD, but they don't have any moving parts or produce any noticeable heat so it's simply just tucked away somewhere), has an ATX PSU, takes mATX motherboards and also allows full height PCI cards.

My Fusion comes with a VFD "monitor" built in and a volume knob - http://store.antec.com/Product/enclosure-veris_media/fusion-remote/0-761345-15733-9.aspx. Both are completely pointless after the inital "ooo!" moment and if I was shopping now I'd get the Antex NSK2480 as this gives a cleaner looking front and two optical drive spaces rather than my Fusion's one.

I am sure some people will have a lot more experience with HTPC cases than me, but just wanted to let you know that my experience with the one I have got has been positive and I'd recommend it.

As I've said there are many out there in the market, are you restrained on size, yes I know you'd like mITX/mATX but is it going in a cabinet or something?

I personally have a Silverstone GD04B, I've installed in it an AX750, mATX bundle, a SSD, 2 HDD's, a Bluray Writer but you are limited on the CPU cooler with the optical installed, BTW, I've also got a HD5850 in there.

So, I'd say, have a look at the Silverstone range, though many other manufacturers have a "HTPC" based enclosure.

Edit: Here's the Silverstone page linking to their HTPC range of cases, it also has an option to help you slim down the range based on your needs, just fill in the options to your need and "search":

Edit2: OcUK have the Silverstone range in amongst others!

I did say October! $159.99 according to one site, which translates to about £100 here.

I know you said October, last I heard it was suppose to have been released in August!

Yeah, did a search, the figure looks around there, so once VAT is added probably around the £110-£120 figure? :(

Thanks to Confused Stu for that suggestion, hadn't come across that one

SFFNoob, no size restriction, it'll be on top of furniture or a window sill, so any size is acceptable...

Somnambulist: So am i... lurking on a thread dedicated to it but was looking in the mean time :P
