I have an Antec Fusion HTPC case, served me well for a couple of years, but I am moving house and will not have the same space available for what is frankly a huge case. I need something that is at least not as deep, and I dont mind if its tower rather than desktop.

All I need to fit inside is the an Asus M4A785D-M Pro motherboard (microATX size), 2 hard disks and a CD/DVD drive.

I've been searching but all the cases I find are either deeper than 40cm, or they look too gamey looking rather than HTPC. The smaller ones are ITX which would mean throwing away my mobo.

Bottom line is I want something that will look good in a living room, including the sides not looking too much like a standard cheap case.

I am looking for that Exact same case (Antec Fushion) in black. Was it big enough for x2 HD in it?

Looking to build my first HTPC very soon.

Thanks for your suggestions guys.

That OrigenAE HTPC Aluminium S10V looks good, but does it have space for a DVD/Blu-ray drive? I can't see where it goes from the images!

One issue I am encountering here, is all the smaller cases for microATX motherboards are slimmer and will require low profile cards...but I havent seen any low profile TV cards.

But if you look at cases that fit full PCI cards, they are all for full ATX motherboards, and deeper than the maximum 40cm I need to fit into any normal furniture. In fact even 40cm is pushing it.

I'm very close to giving up and buying a small media player external hard disk jobbie.

Edit: I might just be showing my ignorance here. Do low profile cards also have a shorter 'metal bit' or just the card is smaller but the metal part to hold it to the case is still the same height?

The metal part is also shorter. Otherwise a full size card would fit ;)

I use Hauppauge Nova T500 in my low profile HTPCs :)

Have you checked out the Silverstone GD04/GD05? They seem to tick all your boxes - uATX, will take full-height PCI cards, only 33cm deep, nicely styled and finished, and not priced to break the bank.

Don't forget though that you'll need to avoid blocking the fans if you're fitting the case into a confined space.

Check out all these silverstone cases

GD02
GD02MT (needs slim dvd-rom drive)
GD04
GD05
GD06
there all less then 40cm deep

Thanks guys. The Silverstone cases do seem to be the answer. Now to find someone who will deliver them to Gibraltar *sigh* (always an issue, except with OCuk may I add)

Delivery to Gibraltar is now an issue with OCuk too :/ Sad news but apparently they've changed their delivery policy to Gibraltar. Been a customer for over a decade so I'm just a little disgruntled at the minute :P
