HTPC Need some specifics

Hi all,

I am trying to put together a basket for my g/fs father. He wants to setup a moderatly powerful HTPC with the capability of 3D and moderate gaming from time to time. He wants 2 HMDI outputs 1 for the TV and 1 for his PC. The 3D will be primarily for films rather than gaming so will he need 3D vision?
Space isnt an issue but he needs it to be in a horrizontal HTPC case, I was thinking something big like the Silverstone LC13B or LC17B?
I think the budget is around £400. He has 2 external harddrive NAS and their all connecting using GIGABIT.

If you could suggest a decent motherboard for the large case and a moderate graphics card that is capable of 3D that would be great. One decent internal drive for the OS and games is needed, everything else is on external so around 4-500gb should be fine.

Spending eighty odd quid on a case within a 400 budget doesnt leave you much for the rest, also wanting 3d and gaming within that budget is going to be a stretch too tbh, theres a coupla different HTPC spec options in the guide in my sig if you want a look

This build has everything you want but is over budget, youre going to have to compromise on either budget or desired spec (though you could drop cpu back to a dual core athlon but youll still be over - just less so)

Thanks for that, due to working away I havent managed to get back to the thread!
In the end he didnt care much about the budget and I basically built him a gaming PC in a HTPC case hehe, he's very happy with it now. i5 760, 4gb xms3 ram, and he ordered a 6750 but they sent him a 6950! safe to say he was happy with that! Ordered it from an american site as he lives there, probably NewEgg
