HTPC noob....what do i need?

OK, one more question. Is a GB connected NAS quick enough to stream HD content? I thought HS ran at around 25MB's?

I've got gig network and everything works fine even with different films playing in different rooms.

cool......just got to decide on the NAS enclosure now. I just want one which will keep a backup really. Been looking at the Netgear duo boxes for around £135. I've sourced an 80GB OCZ agility 2 for £80 too for the HTPC.

Being lazy really. If its there and already to go its easier for me. Plus. I want to use it for music and pics too. I can then box up my collections and put the out the way

makes browsing your video collection a lot easier too when you want to watch something, rather than looking through your discs, finding the write one etc.

i can just use search and filters to select what i want to watch instead

I recently setup an HTPC with XBMC running on a foxconn nt330i, great little thing and very cheap, all you need is some ram an old flash drive and a remote, power consumption on this is so low i just leave it on 24/7. I then run a server upstairs which is just a dual core celeron e3300 which works perfectly fine for downloading and sharing files accross the network, it is all gigabit with wireless n connection to my laptop so I can stream HD movies to my laptop.
