Here is what I am building

Origenae s16v case
Asuse35m1-m pro motherboard
8gb of ram Gskill ripsaws ddr1333
Lg Bly ray writer
Ocz vertex3 120gb ssd for the operating system
Corsair force3 480gb of ssd for internal drive
Sotm USB card
3. Sotm sata noise filters 3 of them each for blurry and 2 ssds
Seasonic x400fl fanless psu

And LaCie d2 quadra hdd external via esata connection

Next week is the listening test

I suspect he will be using the 2nd SSD for local storage rather than a mechanical drive and use the external drive when needed.

Yes but would it not make sense to get 1 large(r) SSD? He also mentioned it will be internal so he won't be moving it about a lot.

Looking around 480gb ~ is I think the largest sized SSD without going with the OCZ Revoo drives.

The OP could drop the OS drive to 60gb.

first ssd ocz vertex 120gb is just for the operating system and the J river software as well as any other system related software...

second ssd is for the storage of the high res music flies..be it download or rippin...

i wanted no moving parts in the case...hence the ssd choice

does that narrow down options for upgrading? or do you have to replace the board to upgrade the cpu ?

the motherboard has the cpu built in...
as for the upgrade...since this is a MUSIC FILE SERVER only...i dont need too much computing power...

the idea behind the whole project is not to have any moving parts. and completely passive cooling motherboard and with the fanless psu not to have any fan noise...

Pretty much, I have Sapphire board which I use in my spare pc.
