HTPC question

Not sure if the intel atom is capable of running full HD... not too hot on the atoms either.

Whats your budget? May be worth building one :)

OS i'd recommend windows 7 home premium. Do you need monitor/keyboard/mouse etc?

well since its a HTPC it will be running through the TV so no monitor keyboard and mouse i have from my home PC

I was thinking of the Zotac because its small and would take the place of my 360 elitte on my shelf unlike some of the others out there atm which are just to big (GFs bitching about everything atm with our 2yr old running round )

Fair enough :P Yeah TV makes sense... i assume your home pc has wireless keyboard with trackball on the keyboard? Usually essential for HTPC setup.

Everything looks fine, although how much hard drive space is there? and the processor may become somewhat under powered for what you need.

i have wirless mouse and keyboard so there covered

Thats why i was asking what else i would need to get it up and running was hoping for some surrgestions on HDD and RAM

If thats going to be a problem (processor) then i might have to go for the £400 build thats on the next page

Really didnt want to since the case wont fit on my shelf and thats the main issue for me really

Doesn't mention about playing video files, but take from that as you wish. It'll play 480p fine... but i'm not going to recommend using it for anything above 720p myself :P Thats up to you.

Obviously you can't future proof with the set up you've picked. For hard drive, HTPC needs space. Maybe a NAS setup... then your media is networked and not limited to one PC, so if you buy a new pc etc :)

Or what do ppl think of this build

also need to add Win 7 to that but all in all not bad dont you guys thing

Power Supply: ATX-500W (20+4 Pin)

included with the case and the fans work out at £4 each so not a big issue

Will be able to get this up and running in no time and since pay day is next monday the i'll wait till next wednesday to order see what pops up on "this week only" might be some small improvments/savings

Hmm, no doubt a bad PSU though... long as you dont plan on adding a dedicated graphics card or loads of hard drives. You'll be fine.

I noticed that item is currently out of stock. But other than that, looks good! :)

even if i do add a GPU at later date will be a small cheap 1 (in fact i have 1 in the house ;) not sure if its any good cant remember)

will only be using the 1 HDD 2TB is plenty

With it being next week that i will be ordering it should be back in by then
