Oh yeah, i'd go for a bigger Hard drive too.

It won't take you long to fill it up with movies etc. I've gotta replace my 500gb one now after only 5 months!

Taking things approximately in order:

I left it running Orthos overnight and temps dropped 2C so fair point about AS5 needing to bed in. Agreed on the Quad too - it's not needed. However, given the price differential between a Duo and a Quad, it seemed silly not to.

I got the VFD working first time. However, I've done enough research to know that there's better software available than what's on the CD (check the Soundgraph forums - www.soundgraph.com), and they're prone to misbehaving when they detect signals from non-MCE remotes. You could try contacting Antec about that last point (it's a known fault and they're offering RMA on them, though they don't have the new parts yet).

Hard disk - too right. I got the same Samsung drive, and was going to use the drive out of the old system as secondary, but it's not well, so I'm getting another Samsung. I'll top that up with 2TB of external storage. Reckon that'll be enough?

So, I've changed the graphics card to a 8800GT. Hopefully this is now the final spec. Any changes required before I click 'Buy'?

Well I've never thought to take any but I've got to have it apart soon for some minor tinkering so I'll do it then.

soundgraph are crap. end of. they are the creative of the digital display world. ive got an imon ultrabay and its pretty much unusable, and has been since i bought it about 6 months ago. all down to the drivers. its currently sitting in a box doing naff all. Im not too worried though, it wouldnt fit in my lc17b anyway :cool:
