HTPC vs Nas storage?

NAS for me. I have multiple HTPC setups in the house and the central NASes (I have two with a total of 12 drives) allow me to share media around the house. One the devices were setup I've done very little with them other than add new drives

NAS for me too. Works like a dream with my Internet enabled TV's and Blue Ray players. Allows me to access HD content, music and DVD backups via the NAS without the slightest issues. I used powerline internet devices across the house, speed is fine for ALL formats, never ever the slightest stutter.

NAS here too. An old PC in a massive case (Lian Li PC70) running Ubuntu Server. It does all my downloading, sorting, storage and print serving. Up time is usually months at a time, with reboots only needed for security patches or the odd package update. It's never actually crashed on me yet and I've ran it for a couple of years.

I have a Synology DS210J with a few 2TB drives in side of it and 3 2TB external drives connected to it via USB. These stream to a a mac mini and a few Acer Revo 3610's on Windows 7 / XBMC, wireless N 5ghz.

I have wanted to set up NAS storage for years to backup all my media to be accessed around the house but every time I think about backing up my 800 or so dvd's and maybe my 170 or so blu-rays I just go off the idea, I could do with paying someone with time on their hands to sit and back them all up for me because I neither have the time or desire to sit and decrypt all my discs myself as it would probably take more than a month if I kept a drive spinning 24 hours a day.

I would imagine that there are loads of people in the same position as me who want their movies available on their network but don't want the hassle of setting it up.
