*** Huawei P9 ***

Yeah I think if they want to have an impact in this market they need to come in at a lower price point than the competition.

Will be interesting to see how the camera performs though. I don't have much knowledge of these things so don't know whether what they've done is likely to be a good thing, but always interesting when somebody tries a new approach.

No 4K recording.

I wouldn't really be that bothered, I've never really used it after the initial ooo new feature buzz on my X Style so if it can offer high quality 1080p video then that's perfectly fine.

Given even high end DSLRs are only just getting good 4k video results a phone is a waste of time no matter what optics it might have etc

True...but no 1080p60 or 720p240 slo-mo either.

CPW doing this at £449 sim free, and possible £65 cash back through Quidco, so making it £384.99 at launch. I wonder how many people will take a punt on a Huawei phone over a Samsung or HTC phone?

Great phone but hampered by the software. Huawei seriously need to work on EMUI. I would've gone for this phone is a shot but after years of using both the Huawei / Honor range of phones I just couldn't get used to the seriously intrusive software that is EMUI.

Huawei needs to flesh the software out for sure.

The Vodafone offer for a payg locked Huawei P9 for £310 inc sim and top-up looks a cracking good deal, I wonder if CPW will respond this week and try and compete?

I just checked on Vodafone website and stock is due in 1-2 weeks for online and shops look to have sold out as well.

It's a decent phone. Very, very little lag, good camera performance, it's just the disgustingly awful software that lets it down.

EMUI is just so confused. You feel like there are certain things Huawei does with it just because it's different, not because it serves any functional purpose. For instance, the notifications shade is changed beyond all comprehension but it actually does nothing different to stock Android.

In fact, it's actually less functional! It ignores that some apps use persistent notifications, meaning that music apps for instance, cannot be controlled because the notifications disappear and then don't come back.

I live abroad. Is it possible to unlock the phone? This is so much cheaper than anywhere else.

I think this will probably be my next phone, i was waiting to see what came of the Honor V8, but at 5.7'' it's just to big, 5'' is the perfect size for a phone IMO.

hopefully the video recording will be better in an update.

Still waiting for my P9 + Watch bundle. Was told the 6th but now been told stock issues with Watch. Will hopefully have it soon.
