Like many looking to dive into Hue considering all the deals are dropping this week.

I prefer cool white/daylight lighting other the dingy yellow warm white and I have had my eye on the current Echo Dot + 2 HUE White Bulbs.

question is, I see from the Hue specs that these bulbs are 2700k (which is warm white). Am I being a noob but can these bulbs be altered (colour in the white spectrum?)

thanks

Agree, strictly a 4K household - the hue white bulbs are not white they are yellow 2700k ... so you need ambiance or colour but they are pricier,
or get an echo dot plus cheaper 3rd part bulbs

What bundle are you looking at? The EchoDot plus 2 whtie bulbs for £32?

If so, it has these bulbs: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-Ambience-Personal-Wireless-Lighting/dp/B01BPDXARK/ref=sr_1_10?crid=33XFHTX6MZ16S&keywords=hue+white+smart+bulb&qid=1574938020&sprefix=hue+white+smart,aps,134&sr=8-10
Any "Ambient" white bulb will do all shades of white.

Yeah it is the Dot and 2 bulbs, doesn’t seem to say however in the description if these are ambient (unless being blind).

Perfect that’s answer was looking for, effectively ambience will allow me to change the colour shade.

while I’m at it, that’s the exact deal I was looking at but take it to control the bulbs wireless I’ll need a hub for that?

thanks

The new bulbs are Bluetooth and don't need a hub to control them, so you should be fine :)

The old white bulbs were the rounder more traditional shape.

Great, so take it with a dot when I want to be lazy it’ll still turn them on and off with Alexa even though Bluetooth?

cheers

Hmm just checked the HUKD for the dot and 2 Bluetooth bulbs and comments saying the bulbs aren’t ambience and just warm white..

Amazon 3 ambiance white b22 or gu10's for £40 with bluetooth ... pretty good.

have not understood - if you don't have a hub/echo can you still set up complex bulb routines, also,
with just BT will range be more limited than a hub (because BT less robust than zigbee)

The Ambience ones are really nice, you can really alter the feeling of a room depending on what they're set to.
