For me, I'm likely going to go for the 2500 K.

Though I'm doing video encoding, Adobe's Mercury engine puts most of the load on the GPU anyway.

Something to bear in mind is that all the 5Ghz on AIR screenies seen so far are close to suicide runs.

None show any appreciable load.
What would be impressive is an IBT stable 5Ghz.

Don't get carried away here thinking 5Ghz 24/7 is going to be a given.

I'm pretty sure I've seen screens of people benching on air on XS at 4.9GHZ...

Either way, even if I get 4.5 I'll be very happy!

1.45v seems way too high as 1.3 should be about the max for sandy bridge and current i7 right?

oh well there goes my 5ghz dream but they do say 4.8 should be good for 24/7 runs so i would imagine 4.6-4.7ghz bundles? thats not bad thats 400-500mhz more cpu power than those guys with 4.2 i7's and not taking into the 20% faster clock for clock increase.

if i get to 4.9 which is the ultimate goal 100x49 i will be chuffed!

I don't believe all this 5Ghz on air garbage. I'm guessing the majority will max out at about 4.4Ghz, the golden ones doing about 4.6-4.8 on water.

and not taking into the 20% faster clock for clock increase.

News to me... msot benchmarks show the new Sandybridge processors only about 1-5% better clock for clock than current i7's, the game benchmarks that show huge gains are because of the much better turbo mode on Sandybridge.... useless for overclockers.

yeah I dont belive 5ghz will be the norm tbh, proberly 4.5ghz for 24/7 and stability...

Maybe there ok for benching @ 4.9ghz/5ghz for a bit.

Regardless it sounds a lot more stable/better then the current Core i5/i7 chips, id also be more then happy to be stable even at 3.8ghz let alone 4 or 4.5ghz

very promising, looks like my mind is made up cant wait till I get paid/ jan 9th (within a few days of each other i think)
current shopping list is 2500k + sabretooth p67 + 8gb XMS3.
