Huge Let Downs

Ok Bioshock i bought, played for about 2 hours and then left it alone for about 2months - came back to it and it has gotten better and better although i think having to kill big daddies is an absoloute pain in the rear.

Oblivion was very very buggy and the draw distance sucked balls.

Crysis - yawn. First few levels are great if anything just for the visuals but it gets very boring towards the end - oh and the performance is an utter joke.

DoW soulstorm - played the demo and that too was gash. The original games with their STORYLINES were excellent but the conquest map types are crappy boring affairs with no real goal or drive to actually complete a map.

Biggest let down? - The Witcher - never have i seen such a bunch of dreadful animation, dialogue and English language interpretation in my life. Total balls.

Crysis - The game is impressive while playing it, but the design and story is instantly forgettable. I will compare it to Far Cry which is my favourite shooter of all time. They are both set on a tropical island but even though I played it years ago but I still can remember the levels as they were distinctive. The ship, the ruins, the research facility the island rope bridge level, I could go on. With Crysis the jungle levels merge into one big blur and the alien levels I remember for all the wrong reasons. The air craft carrier level, well its set on a modern aircraft carrier. The characters you meet in the game are so stereotypical that towards the end of the game I was on the alien’s side. In a way the cheesiness of Far Cry's story and voice acting makes it far more enjoyable.

COD4 - I was expecting so much more from this game based upon the previews. I was expecting a movement away from the heavily scripted on-rails previous COD games. The game is so heavily scripted that the AI is almost non existent. It was like watching a movie rather than playing a game. The first COD was with out a doubt the best of the series as they got the ballance with scripting just right.

Gotta be Hellgate for me. I felt like i had been completely lied to when i got it. Where were the awesome cinematics ? Why is everyone a bit mental and "wacky" (unlike the intro) ? Why was the game released in a complete **** state of affairs (theyve pretty much admitted it was released as beta) ? It feels like the devs just wanted people to slay cheap looking monsters and collect stuff, im sure thats fine for multiplayer but for single player, where was the god damned story, a bunch of people asking you to hunt for stuff is nothing. I would have probably sold it by now but trust me to go and register the key :/.

Last few levels of Far Cry (after all that goodness)
Last part of GTA-SA (as above)
Vista

Crysis was only a minor let-down for me, I'm still getting to like it.

HL2: Ep 1 felt disappointed after finishing it. Which I hadn't felt about a game in forever.
COD4 IMO not as good as COD1/2, but maybe because I wasn't fighting the Nazis...

Myth 3, after the first 2 games, I was very upset.
Quake 4 - doom3 anyone?
Age of empires 3 - ....
Hidder and Dangerous 2 - First one was buggy as hell, but brilliant, second one buggy as hell but pile of poop.
MOH: Pacific Assualt - Zzzz.
HL: Blue Shift - not really a sequel but OMG was there a point in buying this?
Tomb Raider 3 - it goes down from here...
Battlefield 2142 - I really don't know why they decided to futurise it all with cheesy plasma guns etc.
Rainbow Six 3 - after rogue spear I got very bored with the sequels - more of the same.
Any james bond game after goldeneye - I think it's hard to beat perfection.

Anyway, just a few of mine.

F.E.A.R has been my disappointing PC event of the more recent years. Although Crysis could get in it's place if it actually ran half decent on my pos dual core 3800 and 1950pro :p

EDIT: Just realised why am i in this forum? I have NO games installed at all atm, NONE at all for the first time since my first PC in 98 :/ What do I do? Has PC gaming died from within me? I miss it but can't think of anything to drag me back :(

cod 2, cause the first two games in the series were almost perfect then they gave us that crap. at least they sought of made up for it with cod4 but its still not a uo beater.

Two Worlds for me! DIdn't know much about the game, bought it as part of a 2 for £25 deal and its such a bad oblivion clone, its almost embarrassing how similar it is. Graphics are terrible too! That'll teach me for not reading reviews

Had a very similar experience with Ultima Ascension. I practically grew up with the Ultima series, starting with 3. Ascension was just such an unadulterated betrayal of the whole Ultima universe , it was utter garbage.

CoD4 not having an online ranking system, only details stored on your local PC. Wonder how many people have lost their rank 55 profiles and not realising the stats for online were kept locally? :o

Rainbow Six: lockdown
After playing Ravensheild to death for years it was such a disapointment.

Stalker kinda it was ok but it wasnt what was orig promised (online coop fps rpg really sounded good to me).
