Crysis - The game is impressive while playing it, but the design and story is instantly forgettable. I will compare it to Far Cry which is my favourite shooter of all time. They are both set on a tropical island but even though I played it years ago but I still can remember the levels as they were distinctive. The ship, the ruins, the research facility the island rope bridge level, I could go on. With Crysis the jungle levels merge into one big blur and the alien levels I remember for all the wrong reasons. The air craft carrier level, well its set on a modern aircraft carrier. The characters you meet in the game are so stereotypical that towards the end of the game I was on the alien’s side. In a way the cheesiness of Far Cry's story and voice acting makes it far more enjoyable.
COD4 - I was expecting so much more from this game based upon the previews. I was expecting a movement away from the heavily scripted on-rails previous COD games. The game is so heavily scripted that the AI is almost non existent. It was like watching a movie rather than playing a game. The first COD was with out a doubt the best of the series as they got the ballance with scripting just right.
