Hi! Today my computer freezed totally and speakers made strange sounds. Now the computer won't even boot properly. Only the fans spin and I don't get any picture. I cleared CMOS by removing battery but that didn't help. Is there anything I can do? The cpu has been overcloked for over an year and couple of days ago it was orthos 12h stable with temps hitting 58-59C.

hi

this happened to me a year ago with a brand new psu ( dark power pro 600 watt) and it was the psu have you a spare psu to try . hope this helps

cheers

I agree with muppet, I had a similar problem - power suppyly went when playing a game, the screen froze and I got a high pitched speaker noise. Check the power socket on the motherboard and the power cord that plugs into it from the psu, mine was black and melted :(

The strangest thing just happened. I was about to test the ram sticks separately and I took one already off but then I decided to try one more time and I put the stick back in. And guess what it booted properly. Any ideas what the problem is/was? I have one broken fan which hardly spins could it cause this?

It isn't intake fan but you are tight I should replace it. I left computer on and it had freezed(no picture in the monitor). This has happened also before couple of times. This time I hadn't even overclocked CPU. Any ideas what's the cause of these problems?

When you originally had the problem did you turn the PC off at the mains for a 30 seconds and retry?
Sometimes the PSU can go funny and it will only work properly when you've killed it at the wall and then switch on again.
