Hughes Sacked !

They should have tied up Hiddink tbh. That woud have been my choice if I was a sky blue manc.

Hiddink is a womanising dutchman. He is definately a character!

Couldn't agree more; he is the nuts as manager but is Abramovich's pocket as the next Chelsea boss.

Good decision, he was clearly out of his depth at a club with such ambitions and they simply weren't winning enough games considering how much money he'd had to spend. Makes perfect sense to get rid of him now IMO as it gives the new manager the opportunity to have some input into transfers in January.

For me the only surprise was that he lasted this long.

Agree.

While I think Hughes is a decent manager, I don't think he's near good enough to take City where they want to go.

He's spent a lot of money (some good players, some bad) coupled with the league postition and the Jan window just round the corner it gives the new manager a chance to still make something of this season.

He's had 15 months? Bit longer then I expected.

Please point me to where I said Mancini is the man for the job?

You still having trouble reading as well as writing?

Eh so getting rid of somone that knows the team club and staff and getting in a guy who probably cant speak English half way through a season, they should have stuck with Hughes till the summer. You just want to see him fail because he is went to Citeh

Hughes wasn't the right man for the job, he didn't meet the targets and spent a lot of money.

Bringing a new manager in, means new ideas and maybe some new players in the January window.

What does it matter if he can't speak English? A lot of players don't speak much English?

You seemed to suggest I thought Mancini was the man for the job, I didn't.

What you're doing is looking for excuses to have a pop, when in reality I'm discussing the sacking of a manager.

It had nothing to with "he is went to City"

Too many beers, take away is. Simple

What I am saying is why get rid of him, he can still finish in the top 4 and only a fool would think they could beat Chelsea to the EPL

No great loss. Hughes was never going to take City where the owners want them to be.

This:)

Im surprised Hughes lasted as long as he did...i said at the start of the season when we had that poll about who was odds on fave to be sacked and i said then that Hughes will be gone by xmas...guess i was right and should have put some money on him going lol.

I dont think Mancini is going to do a good enough job for the Man City owners...Hiddink is the guy id put in charge if i had my way...either him or Mourinho.

As predicted, out of his depth and made a lot of very expensive wrong signings.

A striker that wasnt fit and doesnt score (Santa Cruz)
A Striker that needs a decent strike partner (Tevez)
A Player who has never wanted to be there (Robinho)
A defender who was at least 3 years past his best (Toure)
A defender who simply isnt any good (Lescott)
A left back with the turning circle of a super tanker (Bridge)
A no name midfielder who has done nothing in the game (Barry)

All bought at massively inflated prices and wages, but some of us said all this in the summer.

Fact is the first 6 months last season was two rush buys as they club was bought days before the transfer window shut, bogged down by crap like Hamann and some others they didn't do to well. Getting shot of Hamann/Vassell(in effect) in Jan with the incoming of the likes of De Jong and they turned around completely. 6th, with a game in hand, with a bigger squad than Villa, above Liverpool, in contention for a top 4 slot but importantly, in with a great shout of Europe.

I think its fans pressure to be honest, and pundits, they all seem to think because they have money they should challenge for the title like CHelsea did. Everyone seems to forget that Chelsea spent big under Ranieri, and didn't win the title, they were massively in debt from massive overspending in the previous 4-5 seasons which had taken them to top 4 and top 2 in Ranieri's last year, it was only the, effective, 4th or 5th year of spending that took them to the title and the team had a settled(ish) spine to the squad aswell which was built on. City is a complete rebuild job starting last season, even then it was a who was available job, rather than who were the best targets they wanted.

Moving from midtable/relegation worrys to a very strong push for Europe in one year is pretty huge to be honest. No one would have done better, no one in the league has as new a squad with as little understanding as they have.

Its insane, Fergie, Wenger, no one would have done better to be honest, you can't expect a title, but you can expect a push for the top 4, which is being provided. 2 losses, better than Chelsea/Utd. What if all those draws were their bad spell, and they were due to win the next 10 in a row. The offence is really starting to click there, the defence is raped by injury yet was improving. Their best player in Ireland has had a bad year due to odd injury/fitness scare, he's just getting back to form though.

IF Hughes just stopped playing SWP every game, useless little pratt that he is, and dropped Ade earlier and they'd have won a lot more games till now. Ade is lazy and doesn't link up well with anyone, Cruz/bellamy/Tevez looked hugely more impressive today than any of the link up play with Ade recently.

If Mancini has the balls to bench the useless Ade and much loved by City fans SWP, City should make Europa league easily, and really push for the CL, they would have done so under Hughes anyway.

AS said, Cruz was SUPERB today and scored two, Tevez has several decent strike partners, Cruz, Bellamy, Robinho. Robinho was great last year, up till a few injuries he was the top scorer in the first half of the season, also, Hughes didn't buy him. Toure is fine, he isn't three years past his best. Lescott should be played at left back, Toure and someone new in the middle, Richards at right back, tallest strongest back 4 in the league that would be. Bridge sucks, very few other people were available at left back who they could get. Bridge is about 800 times better than Ball. Barry has actually been fairly good this season, though him and De Jong together is a waste and Ireland is far better offensively than Barry.

Barry would make good cover at left back, and a very strong left winger in a defensive team against someone like Chelsea, great cross, should be played instead of SWP, with Bellamy on the other wing.

They've got a strong squad thats doing incredibly well considering realistically very few teams have had that many changes in such a short space of time. Chelsea under Mourinho only had 2/3 real changes, 2 of which were bought by Ranieri.

He scored 2 TODAY.

David Bentley once scored a hat trick against Manchester United, Is he a superb player?
No, he isnt.
Roque Santa Cruz has NEVER been prolific, has never held his place at a top team and has never been "superb".
In fact in his ENTIRE career he has scored 85 league goals and has 10 assists.
Compare him to one of the worst strikers in living memory (Emile Heskey) who has 111 goals in the same amount of time............
So that makes him worth £18 odd million or whatever they paid for him?

Toure not past his best? Its what Arsenal fans were saying when he got off loaded.
I have not seen anyone other than Everton fans who think Lescott is any kind of player.
And Tevez according to you, when he was at United any way, is a complete waste of time (dont make me use the search button)

You have not been right about anything this season, you were entirely convinced City would hit the top four and stay there, the only thing they have going for them is a large squad of average players so their overall quality isnt affected if someone gets injured.
And to say that Ferguson or Wenger couldnt do better after spending over £200 million in 2 seasons (179 million this calendar year alone), is complete *******.

Because mark hughes was never the man for the city job once the billionnaires moved in, he was way out of depth for a relitively new manager. he doesn't have the connections or the status as a manager to pull the worlds big talents. Mancini is well known and done a lot at inter. he has a much better chance of luring lucrative signings this january or next summer.

as for waiting till the end of the season, then you'd have to spend another year letting the new coach adapt, no point, hughes wasn't going anywhere, as was said in the press release he didnt meet the targets, hes out.

You said he doesn't score though, when clearly he does. In fact I could reel of career stats from every season that shows he does score.

Well you wont because he hasnt, I've already given you his career stats, he is 28 years old and he has a grand total of 85 career league goals to his credit and 10 assists in this league in...........3 years.

Where as Heskey, in the time Cruz has been playing professional football, has 111, and he sucks ass.

What a player.

Lets have your stats that say different.
Wayne Rooney, who is 24, has 127 so far, HE is a top player, and not even an out an out striker, Fernando Torres, who is another top striker even though he is a raving ladyboy, has 153 so far.

So no, he isnt a good striker.
