HULC - Exoskeleton for the army

MGS!

That looks very compact compared to the James May documentary in japan, that lady was wearing a pretty big suit for it.

that was their prototype their suit now looks like this

One of my uni lecturers said he had worked on this type of thing in the past, he said it was like the Half Life HEV suit, in that you could jump further with it :D
When they design one you can rocket-jump in then we're talking :p

I've got a feeling we wont be getting it any time soon, I'm sure it won't come under an UOR, at least we're getting Osprey Body Armour now lol.

It would be cool if that hydraulic exoskeleton was combined with the trojan combat armour.

It is a shame no one wanted the trojan armour and so the designer went backrupt due to the cost to make that 1 suit, and he had to sell it on ebay (but the reserve price was not met).

From the suit's wiki page:

"A military time world clock is integrated into the groin protector that he claims is "where it's got to be."
:D

The problem is power.. how long will these run for? 2 weeks at full power?

What happens when one power pack is shot up? Do you have two or three?

Not read the article, but remeber seeing a video on this a few years back.

IIRC are they not looking at some sort of fusion/nuclear kind of power pack?

Regardless mobile power needs developing before we start developing more technology. Its a big let down in the technology field at the moment.

I'm not so much interested in the military aspect but this field could very well offer some hope for those suffering with crippling disabilities.

My thoughts exactly, would something like this not be an excellent device for folks with MS and similar illness where muscle power becomes a major issue, keeping people mobile and increasing quality of life?

It's to do with manouverability as well though the HULC suit, so it depends how the trojan one moved around

sure is a good idea, no excuse for the lazy unemployed now who cant lift a finger to join the army now

Only that thge Armed forces dont want them any more than we do. I'd imagine when you are in a gun fight with Johnny Foreigner you want to be sure that the dude crouched behind the wall with you is going to try and help.
