Human Decency.

Jesus Christ, get it back to it's owner....how could you honestly contemplate anything else? He is a thief basically.

This isn't a pound coin in the street.

This. One of my friends did this, the amount of abuse in our group chat would make him want to return it.

I’ve always thought that if it can be easily traced to the original owner then the only thing to do is to give it back.

This 100%, it is not yours and you have a contact to return it to, so why is this even hard to understand. Just contact the owner and return it. Wow really, why would you keep something that is not yours ? Treat people how you would want to be treated. Being a decent human being goes a long way and worth more than any item you find that doesn't belong to you.

If I was in that same situation and I had an easy way to return it that would make me feel good that it was returned and I'm sure if I lost something that may have some value and some stranger returned it, it would also make me feel good knowing there are good people about and I would try doing a nice thing for them maybe asking for their details to send them a bottle of something they like as a thank you.

I would give the watch back without any hesitation. Imagine the joy she'd have when it's returned. Regardless of value, I'd be pretty happy if someone made an effort to get something back to me if they knew it was mine.

are you kidding? he went through the messages and surmised that it belongs to a young girl who just suffered a huge bereavement and he's needing to asking friends whether or not he ought to return it? Dear oh dear!

No need to start a thread on this as obvious, decent answer is to return it to its rightful owner regardless of any tragedies etc.

On this occasion I say hand it back.

Few of the gyms I go to you always see people leaving valuables and like a good person I hand it back in, but when I lose my Samsung Galaxy Watch thing? Nah gets pocketed and it's gone! Stuff doing the right thing now! Whatever I finds, I keeps!

Sound logic, 1 person pockets your watch so you punish another completely different stranger with the same behaviour you were upset by.

Not sure what the law is here, I guess it could be argued that the car was sold with everything in it, or that it wasn't intended to included the watch. The moral case is clear though. Return it.

When I was in Japan last year, my mate dropped the equivalent of £20 by accident on the floor, on a really busy road.

20 minutes later, the shop where he dropped it in front of, the owner chased us down the road and said to us someone walked by and handed this in, they checked the CCTV and saw it was my mate whose pocket it fell out of.

Meanwhile in UK, guy refuses to give a little girl her watch back.

I haven't put it into practice yet, I'm still bitter about my watch going missing :'(

Personally I feel better about seeing someone happy they got their item back than I would about some small financial gain. Now if we were talking about a brief case full of fiftys...
