Isn't it possible that Hamilton knows he can't pull away from Kimi but if he lets him stay just behind, Kimis tyres will wear faster giving Hamilton a chance to hold on till the end.

He will know how difficult to overtake so expect he will be trying to do 'just enough' to keep Kimi behind him without taking any more out of his tyres than he needs to.

Exactly, Hamilton clearly is controlling it and just not going hard on his tyres. A smart drive. Dunno why people think he hasn't got race pace.
