Ye hit as a Category four on Florida big bend, still dark but have to wait and see how much damage it's caused.

It moving pretty fast, also first Hurricane to hit the big bend on record.

Its gone through eye wall replacement right now and due to go up to a Category 5 later today in America.

But current track it will downgrade on arrival to Florida as a category 3 or high end category 3 which will still be deadly for the Tampa area etc.

Ye believe the current track / models go with high end Cat 3 on landfall with winds of 125mph thats only abit off a Category 4.

Its the storm surge that going to cause a lot of damage.

My good friend lives in Sarasota (just south of Tampa), so is at danger from both storm surge and high winds. He and his family are heading up state to get out of harm's way.

Good choice as if this storm tracks further south Sarasota is in the firing line for some serious storm surge.

Imagine going out on your boat and being in that crazy them waves look rather scary for a boat like that.

it's still not looking too bad on nullschool, compared to some that hit the Turks a ways back, they must be expecting a real hike in power once it makes landfall.

Its the storm surge that will cause the damage, its due to downgrade to a high end category 3 with winds at 125mph that will still cause damage ripping buildings and bringing down trees etc.

Looking like possible category 4 on landfall with 130mph winds and its now tracked further north so Tampa will be in the cone as it stands.

This tornado just crossed I-75 you can watch it live in the video above being tracked by traffic cam very rare to see them on traffic cams.

Looks like it headed to another road crossing soon.
