Did anyone just watch this?

IMHO, unless I'm missing anything, this weeks episode didn't make any sense.

By the new guy taking the bet that meant one of three circumstances could happen:
1) the horse gets found out and what happened happened
2) the horse lost, they're £20,000 up
3) the horse wins, he has to give him £120,000, which is the £20,000 back + £100,000 which then goes to the guys anyway. That would make them all square (not inc the £10,000 from earlier).

Both 2 and 3 don't get the group more money than if the bet had just been taken with a normal person and then the horse wasn't found out. In other words, what the new guy did only makes sense if he knew the horse would be rumbled, but there was no way to know that!

No the new guy took the money from the guy that bought the horse, as the new owner put the money on to win.

They lost the £90k on the horse but won money back by all backing the fake horse and taking the new owners £20k bet to win as well.

They're con artists. You take the £20k bet, and you do a runner. They were hardly likely to give him his winnings.

I understand they were unlikely to give him his winnings, but if they'd let the guy that bought the horse put the bet on with a normal bookie they'd then be given £90k (as long as the horse wasn't found out) - they could have still all put their own personal bets on aswell.

normal bookie

The whole point was the new guy proving his worth, it wasn't a necessary part of the con to get the rest of the £100k which was to use the fake horse to win the race.

Jokester

Surely they would have preffered the full 90k and then getting the guy to prove his worth in another way though instead of sacrificing 70k just to find out if he was any good.

The 20k he nicked was completely independent of the £90k though. They didn't get the 90k becuase the fake horse was found out, they could have got the £90k and the £20k both at the same time.

Jokester

even though they didnt get the 90k they still got a fair chunk, the £20k owners bet, and all of the team members put big bets on too, so in total they got a fair bit of money back

The chap was checking what odds the horse was getting - the normal bookies were all giving 5 to 1, the new guy was giving 6 to 1 .... thats why he got the bet.

Whats happened to Mickey? I know they keep saying hes going to be gone for a while, but has he actually been written out of the show?

I understand that what I'm saying is why didn't they just let the guy put the bet on normally? That way they would have got 90k and would still have been able to put their own bets on thus ending up with a lot more money then they did.

When is this repeated? Im in work on a Thursday so I miss it.

As far as I can see, it isn't. Had to make room on the Sky+ schedule to make sure I didn't miss it first time around.

Have loved the two episodes so far.

Oh... Jaime Murray.... I think I'm in love :o .

They lost the £90k because the horse was found out, not because they took his £20k bet!

If the horse wasn't found out, they would have got the £90k + £20k + plus there own winnings.

Because then they wouldn't have got the extra £20k.

The bets were all seperate to the £90k. If the horse hadn't got wet, they would have been £90k + £20k + any bets they made individually.

How? He was going to pay them the 90k out of his winnings from betting on the horse so when he turned up to pick up the 120k from the bookie he'd realise that he'd been conned.

I don't think he wanted to do another series.

No, some random fake bookie had conned him. No link to the others necessarily.

Full of holes though that programme.
