My question is will it be good to use on a desktop machine cos most of the reviews i read take about laptops hard drive replacement.

The drive is much cheaper an you get more space for your money an there is not that much of a speed differece.

anyone so is it good to run on a high spec desktop pc ? playing games no

I've got one in my laptop, gets 5.9 Windows experience index. Had 4 in RAID0 on my main PC but had stuttering issues when playing games even though on latest firmware, that got 6.1 in Windows experience.

I'm sending the 4 I have in RAID0 back under DSR as they're no good for gaming, the one in my laptop can stay as I don't game on that and general Windows performance is ok.

Plenty of complaints about these drives can be found on the Seagate forums.

The new Firmware SD24 needs installed on these drives to eradicate stuttering and other issues.

They work great once thats done, pretty nippy little drive for a 2.5" HDD.

This^

I have one for my games drive and they are great little drives and very fast.

Id recommend this if your not wanting to part heavy cash on an SSD but want a little more than just a standard HDD. These are good for the OS but are not the best for games unless the games that are played are constantly played.

Just ordered one for my Father so thank you for the heads up on this, I'll make sure his gets updated before anything else :)
