well, gpu arrived, installed and it only works!
ran through the bloodshot fort with medium physx (as i had done previously with medium physx on the cpu) and the area around satan's suckhole is now a perfectly playable 50fps as opposed to a 5-10fps slideshow.
i'm really impressed, especially given i didn't think the 750 had the power to make it work well even if it was being used.
