hey guys just your opinion on hyper threading.

i recently screwed up my pc (check earlier threads for giggle) and while in the bios i noticed hyper threading was disabled, i am under the impression that hyper threading is a good thing? but i thought maybe its disabled because my system is overclocked or something.

just want to know is there any point to having it on?

:)

Some people did disable to assist with a higher overclock, but it does assist with performance.

I personally benefited a lot from ht, the only time I notice and take note of cpu usage is with video transcodes, that's where I saw the benefit

some would argue that it can infact slow down your performance on games that don't use more than 2 threads but I don't really know enough about it to argue either way.

I would guess so but surely any games which are old enough to only use 2 threads won't be bottle necked by the i7

cool, i might turn it on then, i do a lot of animation and video editing no idea if it has an impact in that, but ill turn it on and see if it boosts or slows down my system :D
