Has anyone heard of this? They run seperatly to BT apparently. My friend who is a youtuber has signed up to them but I'm dubious. 1GB speed they are claiming.

They are legit. Problem with them is availability. You basically have to get your whole block of flats to say "Yeah we'll sign up if you install here" and if they think it's economically viable they will install it.

I've had the 1Gbit service for over 2 years now, it's a 1Gb Ethernet service - I have single-mode fibre optic cable coming out of my broom cupboard, and a ping of about 0.5ms to multiplay.co.uk for £50 a month, so yeah - it is genuine and it works very well - if you can get it.

I've had to switch to a slower router (for VPN reasons) but I can still get nearly 600Mbps up/down from speedtest.net, (with the standard basic router I can get about 920)

Virgin cant even give me anywhere near my up to 152mbps... lucky if I get 30 at peak time.

Why did Birmingham get hyperoptic before London? Of all places Birmingham?

Actually most of Hyperoptic's coverage is in London.

They require enough interest before they hook a place up (for that reason, usually a block of flats).

Very nice, though I don't know if I'd pay £50 extra per month for the sake of faster broadband. Even if 7-10 mbps is driving me round the bend.

I saw that, didn't think they showed exactly which flats had it though. Ill use it now though thanks.

I think i'd pay £100 per month for unlimited gigabit.
