Assuming the OP had an HT capable CPU, what would be your guidance?

I would enable it if you had the choice to.
With two 670s I noticed better lower FPS than with it disabled.
BF3 for example used to stutter and even drop down to around 40 fps during large firefights purely because the CPU was being hogged with data on a 64 man server and not supplying the 670s with enough instruction with HT off.
With it turned on the lowest i've seen my FPS go is around 80, that's at 1080p and ultra settings.
