Altered expectations. The women who dance in these clubs are (physically speaking) the cream of the crop. How does a bloke feel when he than has to go home and look at his wife who is ten years older and has perhaps had a couple of his kids. It is degrading something that is meant to be private and intimate.
I can fully understand why others might feel that my views belong to a past time and are outdated but I can assure you that they are carefully considered and have been developed partly as a result of seeing a number of friends whose marriages have failed.

The onus lies upon the person viewing to keep their minds on the right track and that is hard if the goods are bing waved in front of you.

It comes back to expectations again. If a guy spends time thinking about things that are on offer in a strip bar or on the internet then he will bring that into the bedroom when he is with his wife and that can cause damage to their sexual relastionship.

Mini update on this.
been down there another week and it made the front page of the local paper ("Poles Apart", lol!) and had one of the local columnists telling everybody how it was a big misunderstanding and that there were no lapdancing licences in Newquay and no licences were going to be issued. People were probably just getting it mixed up with the wet t-shirt contests during Run To The Sun .... umm, not aware the licence has been in place for nearly a year then love? I love local news.

Old club had a canopy outside, which we were going to carefully remove, chop up and dispose of. Instead we drilled a few holes though it, got a bigass rope, hitched it over the towing hitch of my van and pulled it off the wall a lump at a time, Good god that was fun
And for those who think i'm having too much fun there, this should bring a smile ...
We've been pulling some of the old ceiling down. I've popped off to the "throne room" to answer the call of the wild. After a minute or so of "contemplation" i hear shrieks (from the big burly labourers on the job) and a shout of "it's going towards the bog!". I hear the door burst open and sets of feet come running in. "there it is, smack it in the head! now! kill it!", etc. I'm a bit agitated by this to say the least. Imagine my reaction when a sodding great big rat runs under the cubicle door and heads towards the (occupied!) pan!
I think i developed something short of thrust at that moment and managed to bounce off the seat (ok, i shrieked too 
) The rat did an about turn,ran out under the door and from what i could hear managed to dodge the lot of them on it's way out of the club. Not a situation i'd care to repeat any time soon i can assure you!
Couple days at home and i'm back up there on monday (place is meant to be open in 11 days and we haven't even plastered the ceilings yet )

For me the most fun is had when with a group of friends and you can all have a good laugh at the bloke with his eyes bugged out and a near naked bird on his lap rubbing her boobs on his face.
Porn doesn't normally have the same group enjoyment.
I've been to lapdancing clubs a number of times with friends and it's just something to do for a laugh, to be honest once you've seen one pair of boobs you've seen them all.
If you understand that the girls are simply there for the money it becomes harmless fun. I feel a bit sorry for blokes who go to those places regular though because they fancy the girls or can't get any action themselves.
I had the misfortune to go in the wone near me recently. It used to be a decent non-commercial nightclub, but now it's your typical sleaze joint.
And what did I find? A lot of eastern European women dressed like slags pimping for money. Only one of them was actually attractive.
